How We Judge

How we grade a casino-hotel.

I

The gaming floor

How good the gaming really is and how brightly it's run — the table spread, the high-limit salon, the poker, the slots — and whether it feels welcoming to walk into rather than merely large.

II

The rooms

Whether the hotel stands as a destination on its own: the light in the rooms, the quality of the beds and suites, the views worth waking to and the service that makes you want to come back.

III

Dining and the daylight hours

The restaurants worth a reservation, the bars, the spa, the pool, the show — everything that turns an evening of cards into a full, well-rounded stay.

IV

Location and value

Where it sits, how easily you get there, and whether the trip reads as fair value once the chips are cashed and the bill is on the marble.

Side by Side

All five, in one clear view.

Good to Know

Casino-hotel questions, plainly answered.

Which of these casino-hotels is the best overall?

For us it's Parq Vancouver, right downtown beside the stadium — a genuinely stylish design hotel across two towers with a bright modern floor and a rooftop park six storeys up. It leads this guide at 9.4, and it's a city break as much as a casino.

Are the casino floors really adults-only?

Yes. Each venue here runs a strict 21+ door policy and checks photo ID before you step onto the gaming floor. You can stay in the hotels at any age, but the floor itself is grown-ups only.

Does that mean 21 is the legal gambling age in Canada?

No — and we want to be exact about it. The 21+ figure is the entry policy we found at these venues, not the legal minimum. In Canada the legal age is set by each province at 18 or 19. Check the venue's own current rule before you travel.

Do you take bookings or run any of these casinos?

No. Marquee & Marble is an independent editorial guide. We take no reservations, hold no money and operate no games, and this is not an online casino. Every rating is our own opinion and paid for by nobody.

How accurate are the room counts and floor details?

They're approximate and they move — properties renovate, expand and rebrand all the time. Read our figures as a guide, then confirm the current rooms, tables and rates with the hotel before you book.

A bright night should stay bright.

However polished the hall, the casino is meant to be entertainment first and last. We only recommend playing within your means — and every hotel here is strictly adults-only, with ID checked at the door.
